Snapshots in time: images of Lancefield, Romsey and surrounding villages

$20.00

In 1992, prior to the amalgamation of shires within Victoria, Romsey local historian John Reid edited a history of the Shire of Romsey. A number of photographs could not be included in this publication, so the Romsey & Lancefield Districts Historical Society published this collection as Reflections: historic photos of the Shire of Romsey. The small booklet was very popular with visitors, tourists and local families whose houses, farms and other buildings were features. It sold well and has been out of print for some years.

In 2022 the Historical Society decided to republish Reflections. However, many of the photographs used in the 1992 publication are not held by the Society. Instead, we gathered a selection of photographs of towns, people, lost hamlets and local villages of the former Shires of Romsey and Lancefield. We aimed to include as many previously unpublished photographs as we could find. When assessing these images, a more appropriate title for the book presented itself, and so Snapshots in time: images of Lancefield, Romsey and surrounding villages was created. It includes many evocative photographs of Benloch, Bolinda, Clarkefield, Cobaw, Darraweit Guim, Lancefield, Monegeetta, Newham, Rochford, Romsey and Springfield.
